The Writing Task of the TOEFL exam consists of 1 Independent Task and 1 Integrated Task.
You’ll have 30 minutes to plan, write, and revise an ‘Independent Task’ where you will be asked to state and support an opinion or make a choice on a topic that is familiar to you.
Here you will be evaluated on the development, organization, and English language command of your essay.
Your ‘Integrated Task’ will allow for 20 minutes of response time. Here you will read and then listen to a lecture or conversation and then respond by synthesizing the information. You can use your note taking skills to help support your essay.
